Change Management & Communication

County Municipality turns to Vantage for extensive Change Management Initiative.


Situation: A municipal government was in the process of implementing an automated time and attendance system to better account for its payroll processing and scheduling. As with most new initiatives, particularly those that are more technology-driven, there was considerable fear and anxiety, as well as outright push-back against the new system.

Goal: To alleviate fear and anxiety, ensure understanding of benefits and purpose of the new system and gain buy-in of all impacted employees and stakeholders.

Process: Vantage worked with internal staff to craft positive messages for key stakeholders, and then conducted a train-the-trainer program to ensure consistent roll-out of these messages. We developed a consistent communications plan and all-employee training to ensure buy-in and understanding of the new system. We helped to implement the plan by drafting and/or reviewing all employee communications relating to the new timekeeping system and by leading the meetings with those employee groups that were expected to be most resistant to the change.

Results: The project was successfully implemented without incident. Internal client staff continues to track full adoption of the system and monitor areas where there are high error levels and works with Vantage to provide additional targeted training in those specific areas.
