Vantage audits HR Department of non-profit headquarters staff.

Situation: A not-for-profit organization desired to review and revise its human resources processes to ensure that its infrastructure was in compliance with the myriad of employment laws that affected the workplace and also reflected the best practices of similarly situated organizations. In addition, the not-for-profit wanted Vantage to provide a compliance audit of certain human resource practices, including recruiting, compensation, benefits and promotion practices.

Goal: To link human resources to the business and mission of the organization, and ensure that the not-for-profit was operating in a legally compliant manner, that employees perceived the human resources strategy and structure as fair and that it reflected the best HR practices of the not-for-profit community.

Process: Vantage obtained and analyzed all the not-for-profit’s current policies, forms and processes related to the not-for-profit’s recruiting, compensation, benefits and promotion practices. Vantage prepared a Report of Findings, which identified the challenges and areas of opportunities for the not-for-profit. Based on our analysis, Vantage made recommendations for (and ultimately assisted with) the development of a strategic human resources function within the timeline and budget required.

Results: Over 80% of the recommendations made by Vantage were implemented by the organization, utilizing both internal and external resources, including additional services from Vantage including a compensation analysis, job analysis and exempt classification analysis.
