Retreat Facilitation
Vantage designs and facilitates team retreat for large quasi-public agency under new leadership
Situation: Vantage Solutions LLC facilitated a team retreat for a large quasi-public agency that was under new leadership. The team desired to build cohesion, communication and culture across a diverse employee population.
Goal: The Retreat was designed to assist the Team in becoming a more effective, cohesive unit.
Process: The retreat facilitation model placed emphasis on those traits that make an effective Team member who can and does add value to the Team. These included effective communication, time management, delegation skills, conflict management, resource allocation and interdependency. Team members were encouraged to and expected to fully engage and share their honest opinions with the group to help it to better function. The entire workshop was placed in a context of ‘what happens here stays here’, which also served as a unifying point while encouraging and supporting honest and candid reflection. The Retreat also focused on the individual, utilizing the Discovery Insights™ self-assessment tool, to ensure that the individual components of the Team were sufficient to achieve the collective Team goals.
Results: The Team reported more effective communication, cohesiveness and team engagement. Importantly, the Team was able to resolve an issue it had been facing for several months utilizing some of the conflict resolution skills provided during the retreat.
